Hu Yuhai Meets with Eskom Chairman Jabu Mabuza

On July 8, Hu Yuhai, Chairman of SGID, met with Eskom Chairman Jabu Mabuza in Beijing. The two sides had in-depth exchanges regarding potential cooperation and power industry reforms.

 

 

Hu Yuhai extended his warm welcome to Mabuza, and introduced the overall development, operational performance, asset layout, management paradigm, and personnel structure of SGID. Hu Yuhai said that Eskom is the largest and the most influential electric power enterprise in Africa, representing the highest level of development among peers in the region. At present, Eskom is facing power industry reform. SGID is willing to share its experiences with and support Eskom, and looking forward to participating in the reform and starting potential cooperation.

 

Mabuza introduced the current development and performance of Eskom, as well as difficulties it is facing and initial plans for the power industry reform. Mabuza was also looking forward to State Grid sharing reform practices in its investment destination countries, as well as State Grid¡¯s advanced experience in areas such as technology and operation.

 

In addition, the two sides also conducted in-depth exchanges on such various aspects as SGID's generation assets, transmission greenfield projects, investment philosophy and withdrawal mechanism, as well as procurement policies of companies invested by SGID.

 

Dong Yang, Assistant President of SGID, together with concerned personnel from the company's Dept. of Business Development & Strategy, and Translation & Interpretation Center, and State Grid African Office attended the meeting.
